An Eden man will spend 80 years in prison for first-degree sexual assault of a child, possession of child pornography and child sexploitation.
John A. LaGrew, 28, received the maximum sentence requested by Fond du Lac County District Attorney Michael ORourke. If LaGrew lives to be 108 years old, he will serve 30 years extended supervision.
This is a dangerous person who cannot be let back out, ORourke said. That is why I requested the maximum sentence.
Fond du Lac County Circuit Court Judge Dale English did not give LaGrew the maximum extended supervision during the hearing Thursday, but ORourke was satisfied with the result.
Additional charges of first-degree sexual assault of a child, five counts of possession of child pornography and child sexploitation were dismissed and read into the court record.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriffs Department was contacted on Aug. 22, 2007, regarding a 9-year-old girl who was visiting LaGrews home at the Manor Hill Trailer Park in Eden. The girl told officers she visited LaGrew for one week to play video games and watch movies. She said he had a modeling chair that shook and that he had kissed her, according to the criminal complaint.
A 7-year-old Ashland County girl also told police she spent time with LaGrew. The two committed sexual acts, but no intercourse occurred, the complaint states.
The younger girl said LaGrew took pictures of her nude and showed her pictures on his camera of a naked boy and people performing sexual acts on children. The Sheriffs Department located thousands of pictures depicting infants, toddlers and prepubescent teens performing sexual acts or in sexual poses.
Thirty-one photos of the 7-year-old girl were located as well as 44 photos of a 3-year-old girl.
It is difficult to imagine a more serious set of facts, ORourke said during the sentencing hearing
