NEW VINEYARD - Fire destroyed a mobile home at 60 Church St. Saturday night. It was the second time Tim Wilbur's home was destroyed by fire in the two years.
Wilbur had been to Farmington, returned home and opened the door to the trailer and was hit in the face with heavy, dark smoke, fire Chief Doug Churchill said, according to a report from one of his officers. Churchill was out of town at the time of the fire.
More than 20 firefighters from New Vineyard, Farmington, Strong and New Portland responded to the report of fire at 6:20 p.m. Firefighters shuttled water about a half-mile to the site to try to save the older-style trailer but it was too far gone, Churchill said.
The cause and origin remain unknown due to the extensive damage, the chief said.
Wilbur didn't have insurance on the trailer

This flagpole has meaning for me, because Im a very firm believer in this country and we fly the flag at our home and anytime we take our fifth wheel camper out, we have the mount on it to fly the flag. I just love this country.
Harney happens to be an acquaintance of Dennis Morgan and jumped at the chance to help with the project.
One afternoon, we got together to pour the base for the flagpole. I had the materials already, so we didnt have to call for a concrete truck or anything - we just mixed everything on the trailer, used a wheelbarrow and filled up the hole, Harney said. It feels great to do something like this for the community and Im willing to do just about anything to help anybody out.
Sue Morgan, Dennis wife, said she was very proud of what her husband has done. Dennis Morgan said that his wife believes in this country like I do
