The holdup took place at the U-Haul office south of Schoolcraft Road at about 7:30 p.m., according to a Redford Police Department report.
The victim was not hurt. He lost his cellular phone, wallet and two debit cards to the gunman, he told police. A U-Haul co-worker with him was not robbed, police said.
The victim told police he and his co-worker had just closed the office for the day when a man in dark clothing jumped from behind a trailer and pointed a pistol at him. Both employees were forced to lie on the ground, and the gunman demanded the victim's possessions, he said.
Afterward, the robber ran west through the parking lot and then north along Inkster, he said.
