Red River Bridge found safe after Tuesday night fire

DENISON -- Cooperative efforts between Colbert and Denison fire departments may have prevented major structural damage to the Red River Bridge after a tractor-trailer crashed into another and caught fire late Tuesday night.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol said there were no injuries in the crash, and thus there would be no report released on the incident.
The Red River Bridge was reopened Wednesday morning, after engineers inspected it and declared it structurally safe.
Denison Assistant Fire Chief Bill Ray said their department was called to assist Colbert and they got that call about 8:47 p.m. Tuesday and upon their arrival saw that the one 18-wheeler was engulfed in flames
